For over a century the island of Vinalhaven, 15 miles off the coast of Maine, has provided the setting for memorable vacations. This working community of 1,100 in Penobscot Bay has the one of Maine's largest fleets of lobster boats, yet it also has a long history of a vibrant summer community.
